The Christmas Cookie Workout Challenge

The tree is up. The lights are twinkling. The presents are almost complete. But I haven’t felt much Christmas spirit. I haven’t watched a single holiday movie. I’ve not worn a festive sweater. I haven’t baked a single Christmas cookie!

We’ve had wonderfully mild December weather in Northern Colorado, and though I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the perfect running and riding temps, I blame the 60° days for the lack of holiday cheer.

Wintry weather is upon though, and as the snow falls and frosty air settles in, I can feel my heart begin to brim with Christmas-y anticipation. With less parties to attend and families staying home to celebrate intimately, you might find yourself trying to do all the things spectacularly. Over the top decorations, gifts, new traditions, all out holiday meals, and cookies! Oh the cookies.

The cookies just might be my favorite thing about the Christmas season! I’ve been polling the family, and my followers, for their favorite cookies because this weekend is a cookie baking binge weekend!

Baking cookies is a huge time suck though! It is a continuous rhythm of prep, bake, wait. Then the horrid cleanup. It’s hours and hours of Christmas “fun”—even more hours if you’ve invited the kids to join. With only 14 days remaining until Christmas Day, the wonder and excitement can quickly turn to anxiety and overwhelming commitments. With all of this, when do you find the minutes to train?

I introduce to you: The Christmas Cookie Workout Challenge.

Earn those cookies! Slide that sheet of snickerdoodles in the oven, set the timer, then perform a strength training interval workout. Have 8 minutes? Plan a set of 4 exercises, complete 10 repetitions, keep rotating through them until the timer goes off. Rest while switching cookie sheets out, and perform a new set of 4 exercises for each batch.
